The project to create 6 new suites in the building next to the Manor has begun. To be named after the fictional town in the book ‘100 years of solitude’ by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez and to be larger and more luxurious that the Atlantic suites they will be a wonderful addition to Ngala Lodge as it celebrates it’s 20th year anniversary (1995 – 2015).
Subject to wind, weather, tide and many other hazards it is hoped that the suites will be ready for occupation by the start of next season.
Phase I: To create 6 new suites.
Phase II: To create a 20 metre infinity pool on the lawn.
And so the transformation begins ...
We cleared the ground and planted the grass. The gardeners then spent 4 weeks, lovingly watering, weeding and tending to the new lawn.
Peter arrives in the Gambia. The very next day the fence came down.
The ground floor wall is demolished. And much to the gardeners dismay a very large hole appears in our lovely new lawn!
The ground floor terrace is marked out. The hole in the lawn gets bigger and deeper.
Phase II has become phase I!
Lets see what tomorrow brings.
