BAOBABS AND BABOONS

BAOBABS AND BABOONS

Unfortunately for those safari lovers, the animals most associated with Africa (lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and rhinoceros) don’t live in this part of the continent. The good news, on the other hand, is that there is plenty of other wildlife to make up for that eventual lack. Monkey’s, crocodiles, dolphins,
members of the antelope family, hippos and various reptiles are all part of the natural fauna and one does not have to travel far to meet them. When it comes to flora, the baobab tree is the iconic image of this landscape. According to local legend, the devil uprooted the tree and plunged it back into the ground up side down, giving the baobab its uncanny appearance.
