SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL

Measuring 470 kilometers from east to west with a maximum width of 80 kilometers from top to bottom, The Gambia is one of the smallest countries on the African continent covering a total of not more than 11,300 km. Surrounded by Senegal on three sides, it coils inland like a tongue along the banks of the River Gambia. The land consists of dense mangrove swamps, savannahs and sandy soils on which peanuts, millet and maize are cultivated. It’s highest point at a mere 53 meter above sea level, The Gambia is as flat as your breakfast pancakes.
