KATCHIKALLY CROCODILE POOL

KATCHIKALLY CROCODILE POOL

Some 400 years back a pair of women found two crocodiles at the bottom of the well in their paddy field. Since their random appearance was unexplainable, people thought it must be a divine occurrence and named the pool katchikally, which means holy crocodile. Nowadays the pools count a hundred of them, who won’t hurt a soul and can even be touched. It’s located close to Ngala, so can easily be done in a couple of hours, even on a rented bike. Nearby Bakau, a modest local town, can be visited at the same time.
